Schumer: NanoCollege-Wins $57.5 Million For Solar Center

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer announced Tuesday that the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering has been awarded a $57.5 million federal grant to start a solar manufacturing consortium in partnership with Sematech and the University of Central Florida. The NanoCollege had asked for $100 million out of $125 million available for solar manufacturing efforts through the U.S. Department of Energy.Schumer had been in Albany on Monday pressuring the Obama administration to award the $100 million to the NanoCollege.Another finalist for the money is a consortium led by the University of Toledo and Dow Corning. http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/Schumer-NanoCollege-wins-57-5-million-for-solar-1323701.php#ixzz1IgV5Ef5x
