Clean Energy Subject Of Jan. 29 Forum

The next Tech Valley Energy Forum is scheduled for Jan. 29 at the state University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.

The topic of the event is: "Identifying and Pursuing Changing Market Opportunities in the Clean Energy Industry."

More than 120 energy technology executives representing all sectors of alternative energy have signed up to attend the event, which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Pradeep Haldar, head of the nanocollege's nanoengineering constellation and executive director of the alternative energy consortium New Energy New York, will moderate a panel discussion that will include Bruce Bailey, president of AWS Truewind LLC, a company that tracks wind patterns to find potential sites for wind farms; Tom Birdsey, president and CEO of Einhorn Yaffee Prescott Architecture & Engineering PC; and Stephan DeLuca, CEO of DayStar Technologies Inc., a solar cell maker.

The event will begin with a check presentation by Michael Relyea, executive director of the New York state Office of Science Technology and Academic Research, which has awarded a $1.9 million grant to the nanocollege under NYSTAR's Center for advanced technology development program. The program is designed to help spur development of an energy test farm that will enable innovative research on renewable energy technologies.
