SUNY Polytechnic Institute will host its annual Community Day event on Saturday, November 7. Community Day will offer guests a unique opportunity to receive a firsthand look at the Albany NanoTech Complex, which is the most advanced research enterprise of its kind at any university in the world: an ever-expanding more than $24 billion, 1.3 million-square-foot megaplex that attracts corporate partners from around the world and offers students a one-of-a-kind educational experience.

Both adults and children will have the chance to interact with SUNY Poly faculty, students and staff, and to participate in a variety of activities that promote a greater understanding of nanotechnology, including:

  • Tours of NanoFab Xtension's (NFX) cutting-edge 450mm cleanroom facilities
  • Tours of Tech Valley High School
  • Hands-on polymer experiments
  • Cleanroom gowning demonstrations
  • Kid's Corner featuring child-friendly activities relating to nanotechnology
  • Nanotechnology overview presentations
  • Undergraduate and Graduate information sessions
  • Displays showcasing research in SUNY Poly's constellations, including health care and energy

Additionally, a Community Day event will be held concurrently at SUNY Polytechnic Institute's Computer Chip Commercialization Center (Quad-C) in Utica, part of Governor Cuomo’s ‘Nano Utica’ initiative.
