The Capital Region Regional Competition of the New York Business Plan Competition will be held at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Student entrepreneurs from New York’s Capital Region that meet the eligibility requirements below are invited to submit applications for their idea or venture under one of the following six categories:
  • Biotechnology / Healthcare
  • Energy / Sustainability
  • Information Technology / Software
  • Nanotechnology / Advanced Technology
  • Products / Services
  • Social Entrepreneurship / Non-Profit

The top two teams in each of the six categories from the regional semi-final competition will advance to the statewide final competition at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering on Friday, April 26, 2013. They will compete head-to-head against regional winners from the 9 other major regions of New York – Central New York, North Country, Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes, Western New York, Southern Tier, Mid-Hudson, New York City, and Long Island.

The presentation format for the regional semi-final and statewide final competitions is the same. Each team will have 10 minutes to pitch, which will be followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with the panel of judges. Judges are advised to act as they would in a closed-door boardroom investment presentation during the Q&A session.

All interested teams should complete the application, and submit it to Nicholas Querques at [email protected] by 11:59 pm ET on Friday, March 15, 2013.

The regional competition will be held in the NanoFab South Auditorium at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, which is located at 255 Fuller Road, Albany, NY 12203.
